She grew up in a war-torn area and lost her parents in her infancy. Two years back, her first love died in an accident of some form. Shion keeps this information to herself, though, and still seems to remain positive in all that she does. In combat, she wields a widget called the M.W.S., or Multi Weapon System, a big red Swiss-army knife full of melee and energy weaponry.
Shion Uzuki is said not to be related to Citan from Xenogears (but who knows ... maybe).

KOS-MOS, a combat android developed by Vector, is a character who will play a central role throughout Xenosaga. KOS-MOS isn't really her name -- it's actually the general name for the androids that are meant to fight the Gnosis. If you were to call her something, call her Chitsujo, or "Order." She has been programmed with three specific areas: logic, establishment and duty, and also has a special operating system which allows her to communicate smoothly with others. Some of the trailer movies show her getting awfully violent, though -- she's equipped with a device for generating the Hilbert Effect, which makes the Gnosis corporeal, and thus able to be killed.

His character still remains a great mystery, though, and this seems to be intentional on his part as he refuses to speak of his past; in fact, even though he appears to be sixteen years old, his actual age is unknown Still, he IS smiling in the portrait. Maybe that means he's one of those bubbly mysterious characters.

Let the anime in-references begin. Although, admittedly, M.O.M.O. bears not a great deal of resemblance to the famous Magical Princess. She is, as the name suggests, not human -- she is what's called a "realien," an artificial being created to observe captured Gnosis aliens. The realiens are a creation of Joachim Mizrahi, founder of the U-TIC organization, and his wife Yuri. M.O.M.O. (stands for Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus) is patterned after the physical appearance of their late daughter, Sakura. Technically, she's a marvel of miniaturization, packing Gnosis detection systems that once required a roomful of equipment into a human-sized package. Emotionally, though, there may be more going on under the surface than expected...her fondest wish is to go to Heaven, to see her "parents" again.

Yes, that's all the name he's got. Jr. is an agent of an autonomous state among the Star Cluster Federation, Milchia, and one of the representative directors of the Kukai Foundation space colony. His true age is unknown. Though he looks about 12 years old, he frequently acts in a manner well beyond his youthful appearance, and his hobbies have a bit of an anachronistic bent -- he likes to collect old books and antique guns.

Albedo is a very significant character -- if not an antagonist, a wild and violent figure of uncertain motivations. There seems to be little clear guidance behind his actions, save for a strong devotion to Momo. He's also often seen in the company of a girl called Kirschwasser, whose brown skin and silver hair are the only features distinguishing her from Momo. His origins are unknown
